The Icehouse says the partnership represents its introduction into the Maori economic development space and recognises the importance of delivering to Maori stakeholders in the economy.
The partnership will provide tools for innovation and may include workshops for iwi members to lift entrepreneurial aspirations and support entrepreneurial activities. The two organisations may also collaborate with other iwi to establish a Maori Innovation Network.
Under the partnership, the Icehouse wants to help grow Maori business and management capabilities while respecting the unique iwi ownership model.
The partnership was signed at Te Whetu o Te Rangi marae near Tauranga yesterday, with attendance from iwi representatives, the Icehouse, BNZ, the University of Auckland Business School and the Sir Peter Blake Trust.
